How to Take Professional Property Photos with Your Smartphone
Why Your Photos Are the Most Important Part of Your Listing
Buyers scroll through property portals in seconds. If your lead image doesn't capture their attention, they will simply scroll past. Luckily, modern smartphones have exceptional cameras. You don't need a DSLR to take great property photos.
Always shoot in landscape mode (horizontal). Portals like Rightmove and Zoopla display images in a widescreen format. Portrait (vertical) photos will have ugly black bars on the sides.
1. Maximise Natural Light
Never take property photos at night. Open all blinds, curtains, and interior doors. Turn on all the lights in the room, even during the day, to eliminate shadows.
2. Shoot from the Corner
To make rooms look as spacious as possible, stand in the corner of the room and shoot diagonally. Hold your phone at chest height, not eye level, to keep the vertical lines of the walls straight.
3. Declutter Ruthlessly
Clear the kitchen counters completely. Remove personal photos, pet beds, and excess furniture. The goal is to make the space look like a show home, not a lived-in house.
Listings with high-quality, brightly lit photos receive up to 400% more clicks than those with dark, blurry images.
